Why am I Paw-ticipating?

I am paw-ticipating in the 2018 PUP Strut to help raise $20,000 because this past year many of their Canine Assisted Therapy (CAT) dogs have passed over the Rainbow Bridge. So, this year, CAT needs to evaluate and certify 25 new pet therapy teams to fill the legacies of the paws they lost in addition to continue to grow to fill the community needs, which will enhance lives.

How can you help CAT?
•    Make a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal to support CAT
•    Join me on event day and Strut Your Pup or start your own Canine Crew
•    Let people know about the amazing CAT dog therapy teams improving lives everyday

What is CAT?

CAT is a 501(c)3 human service organization that was established in 2009 when the co-founders saw an unmet need in the community to provide safe, effective and quality pet therapy for animals and humans.

CAT serves more than 300,000 individuals annually including:

  • Children with special needs, struggling with literacy skills, testifying in court, coping with bereavement and residing in child welfare facilities
  • Veterans in nursing homes, VA hospitals and PTSD counseling sessions
  • Women and Youth in shelters and welfare facilities
  • Seniors isolated in nursing homes and dementia care centers
  • Patients (pediatric and adult) in hospitals and under hospice care
  • College Students stressed during exam periods

Please join me in making a difference in the community by supporting my fundraising efforts for the 2018 Pup Strut. I am a Paw-ticipant and will Strut My Pup for the 2018 Pup Strut Walk on February 3, 2018 at Jaco Pastorius Park.

Your generous consideration to make a donation to help Canine Assisted Therapy (CAT) continue to enhance lives through pet therapy is truly appreciated. This community-driven event is CAT’s largest fundraiser to support the work of therapy dog teams.

CAT was established as a human service organization in 2009 when the co-founders saw an unmet need in the community to provide safe, effective and quality pet therapy for animals and humans. The organization now improves the health and well-being of over 300,000 individuals in South Florida every year. Currently 120 certified therapy dogs provide animal assisted therapy to 94 different facilities, organizations and schools in Florida. There are an additional 41 facilities and schools on a waiting list for our services, and funds from the CAT Walk will go to help train more teams to fill these needs.

CAT reaches more than 300,000 individuals annually including:

  • Children with special needs, struggling with literacy skills, testifying in court, coping with bereavement, and residing in child welfare facilities
  • Women and Youth in shelters and welfare facilities
  • Veterans suffering from PTSD and anger management issues
  • Seniors isolated in nursing homes and dementia care centers

Canine Captain Starter Guide

WELCOME CANINE CAPTAINS!

Thank you for joining the 2018 Pup Strut fundraiser to raise awareness for Canine Assisted Therapy.

This guide is designed to provide you with the tools you will need to make your canine crew’s experience fun, successful and rewarding.  Whether you are joining us as a Captain or team member, you will be playing an important role in helping to make this year’s event exceed all expectations!

Canine Captains: As a Crew Captain, your main responsibility is to motivate and encourage others to join your team.  There are no limitations regarding who can join your team, so be sure to invite family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.  Once your crew is in place, you will then act as the key liaison between your crew and the event organizers.

Step 1:

Register – Register online and create your team

Step 2:

Set Goals and Fundraise – During the registration process you will be asked to set your team goal.  Share your enthusiasm and excitement with your team as you work together to reach your fundraising goal.

Step 3:

Recruit Team Members! One important point to remember, whether you are recruiting team members or fundraising, is to JUST ASK!  Recruit your family, friends, co-workers and neighbors to join your team.  When you recruit new team members, encourage them to invite their own family, friend, etc.  There is no limit as to how many people can join your team.
